nba team saint louis soul

Tasked with building a brand from conception to production, I decided to create a National Basketball Association (NBA) team for Saint Louis, Missouri. Almost every major city within the U.S. has a NBA team, with the exception of Saint Louis. I felt that a city with such an extensive NBA following deserved a team of their own. A team that could celebrate and symbolize the city's historic background and diverse culture.

I named the team "The Saint Louis Soul" to represent and reminisce upon the flourishing ragtime and blues music that made its debut in the late 19th century. Building this brand included a graphic standards manual, a logo, full uniform design, advertisements, a stationery kit, a website look and feel, and multiple merchandise products. I even went as far as to take into account some non-graphic aspects such as: building a full game schedule for the team and the team's player roster.

scotch whisky

Based upon my cultural heritage of Scotland, I created a one-of-a-kind scotch whisky brand. My whisky is named after a well-known creature in scottish folklore. A ceasg (kee-ask) is a mermaid-like creature that is said to be 1/2 woman and 1/2 salmon.

In an effort to break societal norms, my goal was to design a scotch that was more targeted towards women. More and more women are beginning to embrace drinking hard liquor (especially whisky) thanks to current shows like "Mad Men".

I wanted to create a special edition gift set, which includes a bottle of premium single malt scotch whisky, two ceramic drink coasters, two 13oz. engraved rocks glasses, and a drink recipe booklet.

eyewear

Taking an every day object and re-purposing it can be a difficult but interesting challenge to undertake. I decided to take a "tongue in cheek" approach to solve this problem. The idiom of "seeing things through a rose-colored glasses" means someone has an overly positive attitude or outlook on life.

My concept was to create an actual pair of rose-tinted sunglasses to be sold to anyone who needs a change of attitude or maybe a different outlook on their day. By making the product name have a serious tone, it adds to the irony of the unnecessary product.
